Sword Dance 검무춤

Sword dance consists of dancing whilst swinging swords. The swords aren't too big and are easy to wield in your palms. The performers are supposed to represent royal guards at Korean palaces. It shows Korean pride in protecting the country on the battlefield. The dance consists of many turns and energetic movements with the swords. The performing attire resembles a battle robe that was once worn long ago. I personally loved the colors of the costume in green, red, black, and blue. Along with this costume, we wore a hat that is supposed to look like the old hats that were worn by Korean soldiers. The costume has a very traditional look based on the context of the dance. Because the dance at so many spins, it made me pretty dizzy and it also took up a lot of energy. But overall, I had a lot of fun performing it with my peers as it was very exciting.
